The October 2007 Forum on ID&R in Kansas City, October 16-19, 2007
This October 16–19, the Office of Migrant Education (OME) is again supporting a Forum in Kansas City, MO, to EMPOWER ME (Migrant Education). The Forum offers:

Information on effective ID&R practices

Opportunities to discuss and apply ID&R practices

Opportunities to develop and improve personal networks of ID&R sources.

However, like the work of ID&R, the Forum cannot be a success without everyone’s involvement. The extended deadline for submitting a presentation proposal is June 15, 2007.

This year we have two session models:

A shorter version (45-minute “Round Robin Session”) that allows new recruiters to practice the professional skills of presenting and gives veteran recruiters the spotlight they so rightly deserve to share their best practices

An extended version (a 3 hour long, with a 15-minute break, “Forum Workshop”) that allows MEP staff members or groups of MEP staff members to showcase their approaches to ID&R training and allow participants to learn and practice specific ID&R skills.

We know it can take some time to figure out what you or your staff members want to present, so for now, just go here to start your proposal.

FORUM AGENDA

HOTEL RESERVATIONS

The 2007 ID&R Forum will be held at:

Each individual will be responsible for making his or her own hotel reservations. You may do so by calling 888–627–8538.

In order to receive the group-discounted rate, individuals must mention they are with CENTER FOR HUMAN SERVICES/OME.

All reservations must be made by September 17, 2007. Any reservations received after this cut-off date will be honored on a space-available basis at the best available rate.

Hotel room rates will be the prevailing Government per diem:
$96.00 Single/$121.00 Double occupancy per night plus applicable State and local taxes, currently 15.225 percent, plus a Kansas City Development Fee, which is $1.50 per room per night.

ONLINE REGISTRATION

All Forum participants will need to register online. Online registration information will be sent via listservs and made available on the MERC Web site. Online registration will begin on August 15, 2007.

The “Early Bird” registration fee to attend the Forum will be $100.00 (for reservations made on or before October 1).

The registration fee for online registration made after October 1 and any onsite registration will be $200.00.
